Metal sculpture reflecting relationship and contrast of geometry and abstract, fluid forms within architecture and nature in Chania, Greece

Image
An example of a possible formation of my three individual metal sculptures and how they can interlink and combine to create various compositions and forms. Below you’ll be able to see my three, individual sculptures at different perspectives, to display their different design qualities and variety of forms they can create depending on perspectives and viewpoints. There were many design concepts and aspects I wished to display within this scheme of work, allowing me not only to link back to previous sketchbook work, but also artists and movements I've research within my project . Overall, I feel incredibly proud and inspired by my final outcome due to having, I feel, displayed all the key concepts and ideas I wished to display.  Enabling  me to therefore show development of previous research and work, and host a whole new range of ideas I can draw inspiration from. Throughout my work the three key design concepts I wanted to show within my model were the contrast and relationsh...

Examples of weekly time management lists I create to keep on track and up-to-date

Image
These particular screenshots of my notes on my phone are from the week leading up to my Unit 1 hand in. However I feel these screenshots are a great representation and example of the list I manage and keep up during all weeks on my course. Allowing me to visually display and record my goals and tasks I need to complete. Therefore overall, giving me the best opportunity to plan my work effectively and keep on track. This list making for me is one I feel suits me best due to its simplicity and adaptability, making it something I'll look to continue, develop and use in future projects.

Zine workshop using Risograph, Procreate and self taken photos

Image
Overall, I loved the process of creating my zine and adding in the element of narrative and storytelling to my work. A concept I'd like to develop and grow through integrating into future work. Helping me to add meaning, personality and context to my project. This narrative concept could also link to how Hume displays his views, opinions and narratives in his work, making this all important link between my work and artist I've research previously. I'm also really happy with the way I've been able to display all my key concepts and idea in my final finished printout. Whist achieving my desired handcrafted scrap book aesthetic through the risograph printing. Again a technique and approach I can now look to develop and integrate into future work. If I was to do this workshop again I may choose to integrate some lettering or typography to enhance this concept of narrative and storytelling. Possible choosing to use an old style, traditional postage stamp and press font to ...

Mark making workshop using zoomed areas of kiwi print to focus on laying techniques to add detail and texture

Image
My finished final outcomes of multimedia, layered pieces inspired by enlarged areas of my previously created kiwi ink print. Through using recycled materials (bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard etc.) I really focused on trying to incorporate texture, detail, pattern and a multimedia, layered approach to these pieces. These are all elements I had taken direct inspiration from where I had utilised them in previous sketchbook work, helping to create this all important connectivity and development throughout my project. The concept of using recycled, and otherwise waste materials for detail and texture is one I have used previously in my work and felt inspired to integrate here too. I'll look to develop this further in the future due to its unbelievable variety of possible details it can produce, and its clear eco-friendly benefits. My use of layering and collage could also link to the Dada movement as well as the work of Gary Hume and Alex Brewer, all of which I've previously resea...

Paper modeling and design development using enlarged oil based relief prints

Image
Within these designs I really looked to incorporate one of my key concepts of contrasting more geometric and structured forms, alongside more fluid and abstract structures. This contrast is not one just displayed in my previous sketchbook work but also in the work of Alex Brewer, an artist I’ve previously studied and used as a source of inspiration.  I was also really keen to use the contrasting and harmonious colour schemes within my prints to add detail and interest to my design. Again helping me to link back to previous sketchbook work and schemes I’ve used, alongside the vivid and vibrant colour schemes Brewer uses in his work. These two concepts of creating contrast and juxtaposition are ones that I wish to continue to look to inspire future work and develop throughout my project. Offering me therefore a great source of inspiration for future designs and concepts that display this connectivity and development of previous work I've created and artists I've studied. I chos...
